This qualification reflects the roles of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.

The course will be available for those students who are 18 years or older and have completed Year 12. International Students are also required to have an English ability at the IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
There are no pre-requisites for this qualification.
Students obtaining a competent result for all listed units of competency will achieve the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services qualification. A Statement of Attainment will be issued to students who complete less than the required units for the full qualification.
After completion of the qualification, a person could obtain employment opportunities in various business and community services organisations, in positions such as:

Qualifications awarded by APEX will be recognised by other RTOs Australia wide. Upon successful completion of this course, students may choose to enrol further into a higher qualification in community services or a related field.

The 20 units of competency are delivered throughout the 104 weeks. The qualification is delivered over 6 terms of tuition and 2 terms of work placement.
All the above listed units of competency must be completed to receive the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services qualification.
Assessments are conducted during training sessions and on completion of training for each unit to determine if the learner is competent. The assessments are conducted using knowledge and skills assessments. Assessment methods may include: Assignment, Questioning (Oral/Written), Case Study, Third Party Report, In Class Activities, Observations, Role Play and RPL.
Apex will recognise the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other RTO’s, upon verification with the issuing organisation. RPL and Credit Transfer are available for students to access prior to enrolment. More information is available in our student handbook.
All trainers and assessors hold vocational and training and assessment competencies at the level they teach or assess or higher, and have current and relevant industry skills.
Students must work in a community services environment for 20 weeks (2 terms – 21 hours per week). During work placement students will perform tasks as outlined in each unit of competency.
To achieve this qualification, the students must have completed a minimum of 200 hours of work experience as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. APEX’s training program includes 420 hrs of work placement to ensure students have opportunities to practice their skills in a real work environment.
