Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Training Location

APEX trains and assesses its students from its Melbourne, Sydney CBD and Parramatta Campus that are fully equipped with facilities including classrooms, computer lab, wireless internet, overhead projectors, books borrowing facility, and a student sitting and recreation area.

Entry Requirements and Pre-Requisites

The course will be available for those students who have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution or have two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in a similar role.

International Students are required to have an English ability at the IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Course Completion

Students obtaining a ‘competent’ result for all listed units of competency will achieve the RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design

A Statement of Attainment will be issued to students who complete less than the required units for the full qualification.

APEX does not guarantee completion of this course.

Qualifications awarded by APEX will be recognised by other RTOs Australia wide. Upon successful completion of the RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design, the students may be eligible for exemption in relevant undergraduate courses.

The 12 units of competency are delivered throughout the 72 weeks of tuition. The qualification is delivered over 8 terms of tuition.

All the above listed units of competency must be completed to receive the RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design.

Assessment

Assessments are conducted during training sessions and on completion of training for each unit to determine if the learner is competent. The assessments are conducted using knowledge and skills assessments. Assessment methods may include: Assignment, Questioning (Oral/Written), Case Study, Third Party Report, In Class Activities, Observations, Role Play and RPL.

RPL and Exemptions

Apex will recognise the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other RTO’s, upon verification with the issuing organisation. RPL and Credit Transfer are available for students to access prior to enrolment. More information is available in our student handbook.
